This track was produced and conceptualized during a self-booked tour in 2019 where I filled my backpack with 2 pairs of clothes and all the electronic and live instruments that would fit inside and set-off on a 3 month journey going town to town through Guatemala and Mexico booking my own gigs along the way through word of mouth and just showing up and being present. I received a tip to head to Mazunte during my tour which unveiled a special and deep connection with the musicians and culture that exist there. I began to play more and more shows with the locals and visited the coast, "punta cometa", or point of the comets. There, with some beautiful friends I met, recorded the sounds of the ocean joining together and exploding off of the cliff-side, the air, and objects like sticks and stones I found from the region. On one special moment I was with my friend Claudia. We were playing in the sand and we stumbled upon a burial site of a giant turtle. There we said a small prayer and played a simple beat with some sticks on the turtle shell. The recording of that turtle shell is the foundation groove that is buried in the track, as the beautiful turtle was buried in the sand, joining again with nature and eventually the ebbing tides. The final touches made the entire track come to life when I joined with some incredible humans and artists that I met while exploring the coast. I set up my makeshift studio in a small concrete bungalow just outside of the city and with the deep, mysterious, and divine voice of Blythe Gruda and her magical lyric books streaming intrinsic consciousness, and the smooth sensual vibes of the flute and alto sax from Aric Gutnick, the track was born..and the journey continues...
